The Blue Parrot, Ban Tai, Koh Phangan

600bt per night (3 sharing)

We stayed at the Blue Parrot for two nights, the rooms are basic but what do you expect for 600bt a night?!  We had one single and one double bed, the sheets were clean and pressed.  We went for a non air conditioned room to keep the price low, a fan was provided, it was hot but bearable with the fan on full blast.

The bar is right on the beach, there is a decked area with tables, chairs and two hammocks as well as mats to sunbath on.  The food is to a good standard and the staff are very friendly, the manager is Irish and the Thai staff speak basic English.  Internet is available.

On the night of the Half Moon Party we went to the bar for a few drinks before hand, we got talking to other travellers who were also going to the party.. the hotel manager ordered us a taxi and we all shared which kept the cost down to 100bt each, granted there were about 5 to many people in the back of that taxi, with 3 having to hang on the back but you gota do what you gota do to save money!

I thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Blue Parrot, it's a perfect place to chill after a busy few days of travelling, not far from the pier, everything you need is within walking distance.  We met some wonderful people here, which is the best way to find out the best places to go and the best things to see.  Although it is close to the Half Moon Party location  Ban Tai is not a party town, but it is the perfect place to chill before you move onto Haad Rin, which is very much a party town!  If you have a day to spare on your way to Haad Rin I'd definitely recommend a night at the Blue Parrot.
